Pool Sampling
Pools and spas need to be sampled on a monthly basis for TVCs (Total Viable Count) at 37ºC, coliforms, E. coli and pseudomonas to comply with PWTAG. We will visit your site take the samples and leave a report that shows free chlorine, pH, bather load and water clarity at the time of sampling. These will be tested at a UKAS accredited lab within 24 hours and the results reported back to you with any recommendations if needed. Legionella Sampling Water systems all have the potential for the legionella bacteria to grow and under the L8 regulations it is required that steps are taken to remove this possibility. Legionella testing across a site is a way to demonstrate that these measures are working and identify any problem areas not picked up in the Risk Assessment. L8 Risk Assessment To comply with the L8 regulations for the prevention of legionella you are required by law to carry out a Risk Assessment of all your water systems to identify risks and problem areas, it is then your responsibility to eliminate or control those risks through a water treatment programme. We can carry out the Risk Assessment using our trained qualified staff and then help you to implement its recommendations in a cost effective and practical way. This will give you peace of mind and confidence that you are meeting the requirements of the regulations. |

Balance Tank Cleans (No Entry)
Balance tanks on swimming pools and spas must be cleaned on a regular basis and this usually means that personnel must enter the tank to carry out the work. This requires that they are confined space trained and that there are a number of other workers there for safety. This is not the safest method and it all adds to the cost.
We have a developed a method where entry to the tank is not required, the use of specialist chemicals and cleaning equipment will leave your balance tank clean, sanitised and fit for purpose, carried out in a safer and more cost-effective method. Contact us for more information on how we do this.
Shower Head Cleaning
All shower heads are required to be cleaned every 3 months by the L8 regulations to prevent the proliferation of the legionella bacteria. This is to disinfect and descale the shower head, as scale can provide an environment for the legionella bacteria to grow and the temperature of showers is ideal for that growth. The risk is further increased by the fact that we stand under a shower and it deliberately creates aerosols. Our Chlorox Shower Head Clean will disinfect and descale the shower head in stage and is simple, cost effective and safe to use.
Spa Cleaner
Spas are required to be super-chlorinated every week under the HPA guidance on the management of spa baths, this is largely ineffective due to the fact that chlorine cannot penetrate biofilm that is in the system. This occurs throughout the system but primarily is present in the flexible pipework that feeds the water jets. This biofilm can harbour all kinds of bacteria, releasing them into the system. Our specialist spa cleaner can penetrate this and remove it completely. This should be carried out on a monthly basis to improve the running of the spa and eliminate any unseen risk.
Chlorine Dioxide
Chlorine dioxide treating the incoming water can be used to lower the hot water temperatures and save gas as a result as well as eliminating legionella from the water systems . See our Chlorine Dioxide page.
Cold Water Storage Tank Inspection/Clean
Clients are frequently told by water treatment companies that they should clean their cold water storage tanks annually, L8 doesn’t require that, it does require an annual inspection and then cleaning if required.
We are able to carry out an inspection of your tanks with a photographic report to show you what work is required if any and to make sure that you fulfil the regulations without paying for any unnecessary work.
